Nobody likes the Archmage. So Kane shouldn’t have been surprised when his colleagues from the Hall of Magic decide to have him investigated by the Magekillers, a group of women immune to magic whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill magicians. But while the Magekillers investigate the Archmage for using forbidden magic, they come across something even worse. Illegally and secretly teaching women magic, he has begun something that will threaten their very existence. Suddenly, the Hall of Magic and the Magekillers find themselves with a common enemy, while Kane, confident that the two ancient enemies will never work together, continues his work…

This is the second book I wrote, not the first, but as it was much shorter and I feel the beginning is catchier than the beginning of my first book, I thought I’d try self-publishing this one first to see how it goes. The map was created by Mike Theuer based on a sketch I made.

Questions, comments, feedback? I’d be happy to hear it!

Loved your first book, it was fast paced, witty, amusing and sad all at the same time. Really enjoyed the clash of opposites and how that was handled between the two main characters.. Looking forward to next one in the series

Hi, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂 When I wrote ‘The Magekiller’ I was planning for it to be a stand-alone novel. Recently I have been thinking about potentially doing a sequel, but that probably won’t happen for a few years at least. There’s a few other things I want to write first.

Please write a sequel, or better yet series of sequesl, to this wonderful book. I feel like I was just getting to know all the characters and there is so much left to learn about them and their world. My wife and I both loved the book and would greatly enjoy getting more.

      Hi,
I’m very glad to hear you liked it so much. I have been thinking of what I could write in a sequel, but I’m working on another story at the moment. I’m planning on trying to write a sequel to the Magekiller after my current project, but it may be a while before any sequel is ready. Thanks for reading and letting me know your thoughts,
      Sarah

Just read The Magekiller for the 4th time; I really enjoy the characters in this book! The only other books I’ve enjoyed re-reading as much were the Deverry series by Katherine Kerr. PLEASE continue the series about Kane and Alar when you’ve worked on your current story and finish your honeymoon. Congratulations BTW!

      Hi,
I’m really glad to hear you liked it 🙂
I recently read Katherine Kerr’s Daggerspell. It was a pretty unique book, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I haven’t read any of the others yet though.
I’ve started working on the sequel to The Magekiller. I hadn’t actually planned to do a sequel when I finished the book, so I’m not sure how it’s going to turn out.

I love the characters of Kane and Alar and look forward to finding out what happens after they leave Varland.

Hey, that’s nice to hear 🙂
I’m hoping to have the first draft finished by the end of this year. It’ll still be a while after that though, while I edit it and get feedback from other people.

Any chance for a sequel to Magekiller in 2016-2017?

      Hey,
I’m actually working on the sequel right now. I’m having a bit of trouble with it as I didn’t intend to write a sequel when I finished the magekiller, and I’ve never written an unplanned sequel.
Anyway, I’m having fun writing it now and I’m hoping to have the first draft finished this year. The editing usually takes longer than the writing though as I tend to leave my writing alone for months at a time between editing rounds.
In conclusion – it’s being written, but it’s unlikely it’ll be ready for 2016. It might be done for 2017, but that depends on how the editing goes.
